The African People’s Socialist Party (APSP) was formed and formally registered on the 21 January 2015. It was formed to fulfil a historic mission in the political landscape of a free and democratic South Africa. It was formed to be a political home of the ordinary people and to bring their issues into the mainstream of South African politics. The political elite of this Country has taken our people for a ride for over 20 long years using them as voting cattle but completely forgetting about them when they step into the corridors of power and wealth. There is no any other relationship between the electorate and the elected politicians other than voting itself and the APSP seeks to change that phenomenon and build a political relationship between the elected public representatives and the ordinary people. Since the advent of democracy in1994 hitherto there has been no political party that had the political will and courage to take that route and the APSP is here to take the Route less Travelled. We want to bring a new dimension into the political landscape in our Country – We want to come as a game changer. We want to change this “Cat and Mouse Relationship” between the elected public representatives and the voting public. That is why the APSP is firmly built on the revolutionary principles of Popular Consultation and Popular Participation for Popular Democracy. Ours is a warm and fraternal relationship with the masses of our people – our relationship with our people is described as that of “Crocodile and Water”.
The APSP is formed to provide a platform and a voice for all these people.
The Party is guided by the principle of the revolutionary mass line of people centredness and popular democracy.
In essence the African People’s Socialist Party is formed to be the revolutionary watchdog of the interests and the aspirations of the ordinary people.
It is formed to be their vehicle, their political platform and to be their true voice - The Revolutionary Voice of the Ordinary People.
Our ideology is underpinned by:
Economically – We stand for the most equitable distribution of our Country’s wealth amongst its citizens. To each according to his needs and from each according his ability.
This explains our commitment to create the People’s Economy – As opposed to a Dangerous Capitalistic Culture of Corruption and Self- Serving Economic Doctrine. We stand for economic setup where the State plays a central and active role.
Politically – We stand for an Africanist Socialist Democracy.
A people centred government elected democratically by the people in a free and fair election in a unitary state. We are for a corruption free government and clean public administration populated by patriotic administrative cadres with a high sense of duty and responsibility.
Socially – We stand for the promotion of the projection of the African Personality. We stand for the unity of the African people both within the Continent and the African Diaspora.
Our call for African Socialism is also a call for African unity.
We are armed with nothing but the correct political and ideological stand point.
We are armed with a determination to selflessly serve our Country, our People and our homeland – the African Continent.
